Privacy and Data Use

Skate Intelligence privacy summary

This page explains what the app stores from Strava, how that information is used inside your training experience, and how athletes can withdraw consent or delete their local data.

What we collect

When you authorize with Strava, the app may store your Strava athlete identifier, profile name, profile photo, authorization tokens, activities, route polylines, segment efforts, summary heart rate, power, speed, elevation, gear, descriptions, FTP, and weight when Strava provides them. Detailed per-sample streams are processed into compact training metrics and then discarded rather than retained.

Data you add

If you use the planning or coaching tools, the app may also store your goals, race calendar, training type labels, perceived effort, session notes, readiness check-ins, supplements, equipment logs, active constraints or injury notes, and coach chat messages.

How we use it

Your data powers your personal dashboard, activity history, maps, analysis views, training load, segment views, planning tools, and webhook or cron sync jobs that keep your account current when activities are created, updated, deleted, made private, or deauthorized in Strava.

Product analytics

The app uses Vercel Analytics to measure page, chart, and feature use. Events include only stable feature labels and route; they do not include your name, athlete or activity identifier, message contents, attachment names, or training values.

Who can see your data

At this time, Skate Intelligence is designed so each athlete only sees their own synced Strava data inside the app. The app does not intentionally show one athlete's Strava-derived activity data to other users. The one exception is the public blog: an author can choose to include cards with their own race results, records, and season totals in a post. That data is copied into the post when it is published and is never pulled from another athlete's account.

Connected AI assistants

You can choose to connect an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to your account from Settings. Only after you approve it on a consent screen can that assistant read your own activities, notes, training load, plan, races, and records, and only when you ask it something that needs them. If you also choose to allow changes, it can adjust or skip planned sessions, add races and set target times, and add or end the constraints your plan works around; it can never delete activities or races, or see other athletes' data. What it does with that data is governed by the assistant provider's own terms. You can disconnect an assistant at any time in Settings, which revokes its access immediately.

Blog comments

Anyone can comment on a public blog post without an account. We store the name you give, the comment, an optional email address (never shown publicly, only visible to the administrator), and a one-way hash of your IP address used for spam limits and blocking. Each comment is checked by an AI moderator: its text and the post title (not your name or email) are sent to Google Gemini, which classifies it so harmful, hateful, or spam comments are removed and unclear ones are held for a person to review. Comments stay until the post is deleted or an administrator removes them.

Blog reading statistics

Public blog posts count views, how far readers scroll, time on page, and the referring website, without cookies. Visitors are identified only by a hash of IP address and browser that changes every day, so a reader can't be followed across days and the raw IP is never stored. Obvious bots are excluded. Raw reading events are kept for about 13 months. Photos uploaded to posts are re-encoded before publishing, which removes embedded location and camera data.

AI coaching

If AI features are enabled, selected training context, your coach message, and any image or video you attach may be sent to Google Gemini to generate a response. The app uses that information for your requested coaching or analysis response, not to build advertising profiles or train an app-owned model.

Coach media uploads

Images and short videos attached in Coach are uploaded directly to a private temporary media store, read only for the requested analysis, and deleted after the analysis completes or fails. Google Gemini receives a temporary copy for processing, which the app also requests to delete immediately after the response. Abandoned uploads are pruned by scheduled maintenance.

Third-party enrichment

For outdoor activities with route coordinates, the app may send the activity start location and date to Open-Meteo to attach historical weather context. Strava authorization and athlete data are also subject to Strava's platform terms.

How long we keep it

Synced Strava activity summaries, derived training metrics, and data you add are kept until you delete your local account. Raw per-sample activity streams are discarded after metric calculation. Operational Strava webhook logs, expired invite records, and old coach chat threads are pruned after about 30 days by scheduled maintenance.

How to withdraw consent

After signing in, open Settings and use the Disconnect Strava and delete account section. The app removes your local data and attempts to revoke the current Strava authorization token.

How to request deletion

The same settings flow deletes your user record, stored Strava connection, and synced activities from this app's database. If you need manual follow-up, contact the team administrator.

Operational logging

The app stores lightweight Strava webhook event logs so the team administrator can diagnose failed activity syncs, privacy changes, or deauthorization events. These logs can include Strava object identifiers and webhook update details.

Third-party and platform links

Strava authorization and athlete data are governed in part by Strava's platform terms. Review the Strava API Agreement for the platform-side rules that apply to connected athletes and applications.

Short disclaimer to share

This is a small invite-only training app connected to Strava. If you authorize it, the app may read and store your Strava profile, activities, route summaries, performance metrics such as heart rate and power when available, and any notes or training settings you add. This data is used to show your dashboard, training history, maps, analysis, planning, and coaching features. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. Synced data is kept until you delete your local account; operational logs, expired invites, and old coach chats are intended to be pruned after about 30 days. If AI coaching or analysis is enabled, selected training context, your message, and media you attach may be sent to Google Gemini to generate a response. Coach media is intended to be temporary and deleted after analysis. This app is not medical advice.
